Types of Testing
Rapid antigen test
Antigen testing is a rapid testing option that can detect viral proteins (or antigens) on the surface of the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes COVID-19. This test entails a shallow nasal swab. It is most accurate at the onset of symptoms and for 5 days afterward.
Results are available within 10 minutes.
Not accepted for all purpose. Be sure to check with destination, venue or airline.
STANDARD PCR test
The PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) test detects the unique genetic material (RNA) within the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes COVID-19. This is done through a nasal or oropharyngeal swab.
The PCR test is currently the gold standard for detecting the SARS-CoV-2 virus which is why it is the one required by many airlines and travel destinations.
Results are available within 1-2 days
RAPID NAAT Molecular test
The Rapid Molecular test detects the unique genetic material (RNA) within the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes COVID-19. The ID NOW test for COVID-19 is the fastest molecular point-of-care rapid test available, and delivers results with speed, precision and reliability.
How it works:
A sterile swab is inserted into your nose or into the back of your throat to collect a specimen. This test is run on-site to analyze if the active SARS-CoV-2 virus is present.

insurance coverage
If you have in-network insurance, we will submit an insurance claim to have the COVID-19 encounter and test partially or fully covered. If you are experiencing symptoms, have had suspected or direct exposure to someone recently diagnosed with COVID-19, or you need testing for surgical clearance, insurance may cover all of the testing costs. If you are testing for travel or return to work requirements, insurance may not cover any of the testing costs.
We will ask you to fill out our COVID-19 Testing Questionnaire to help us determine what tests you may need and if insurance is likely to pay for these services. Additionally, based on your symptoms, a provider may recommend additional testing.
If you are being tested for COVID‐19 and your insurance provider determines that services and testing for you aren't medically necessary, you are responsible for payment of services received. Please check with your insurance provider to determine specific coverage for COVID-19 testing.
No insurance?
If you are uninsured and in need of COVID-19-related testing services, we will submit a claim to the Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA) for reimbursement of these services. Anyone without health insurance, no matter their immigration status is eligible. Testing paid for by the federal government will not affect anyone’s immigration status or be shared with immigration agencies.
COVID-19 Self-Pay Tests
COVID-19 self-pay testing follows the same high standards as a medically necessary test, but is not typically covered by insurance or the federally funded program for the uninsured.
You can schedule a COVID-19 self-pay test without a physician’s order and pay for your test with a credit or debit card. (Only tests with a doctor’s order may be billed to insurance).
